hotpotato.fun

Terms

1What this is

These terms are an agreement between you and us about hotpotato.fun, hotpotato.family and their subdomains (the "site"). Using the site means you accept them. The site is an interface to smart contracts on Robinhood Chain; the contracts run the game. We do not hold your assets, keys or potatoes, and we cannot reverse, cancel or change a transaction once your wallet has sent it.

2The game, plainly

A hot potato is an NFT in a collection on Robinhood Chain. Anyone can take a potato from whoever holds it by paying the price the contract sets at that moment. The holder cannot refuse. The contract pays the previous holder according to the rules fixed when the potato was launched and takes a fee out of the price. Where the contract allows it, a holder may lower the price at which their potato can be taken.

A potato's rules cannot be changed afterwards by anyone, including us. We can open and close new launches; we cannot stop a potato being taken, pause the game, move a potato, change its art, name or price, or return anything to anyone. Hot potatoes are memes, not investments. A potato is worth whatever someone will pay for it at the moment, which may be nothing. Nothing on the site promises that anyone will take your potato, that you will receive anything, or that any token has or will have value.

3Who can play

You must be an adult with legal capacity where you live. You may not use the site if you reside in, are located in, are incorporated in or have a registered office in Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, Belarus, the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine, Myanmar (Burma), Venezuela, the United Kingdom, any member state of the European Union, or any other jurisdiction under comprehensive sanctions administered by the United Nations, OFAC, the European Union or the United Kingdom; if you are designated as a Specially Designated National by OFAC, listed on the U.S. Commerce Department's Denied Persons List or the UN Security Council Consolidated Sanctions List, or subject to an equivalent designation under the sanctions regimes of Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union or Switzerland; or if the law where you are does not allow it. We may restrict access from any place or for any wallet for legal or risk reasons, without saying why.

4Your wallet and your transactions

You are responsible for your wallet, its keys and everything sent from it. We will never ask for your keys or recovery phrase. Read what your wallet asks you to sign. What the site shows you (prices, payouts, earnings, balances) is read from the chain and may be out of date by the time you act, because someone else may act first; a transaction can fail, be delayed, cost more gas than expected or complete differently from what was shown, and it cannot be reversed.

5Launching a potato

You choose a potato's name, art and settings and you are responsible for them. You must have the right to use what you upload, and you must not upload anything illegal, infringing, sexualising minors, harassing, impersonating anyone, or otherwise against these terms. Art and metadata go to IPFS and are referenced by the contract; once launched, nobody can change them on chain. We may hide a potato from the site and stop hosting its files at any time without removing it from the chain. If a potato uses your work without permission, write to hotpotatofun@protonmail.com with the potato's number and your right to the work.

6Fees, $POTATO and taxes

The contracts take the fees written in them and shown on the site; the chain sets gas. What the vault does with fees is fixed in its code and described on the docs page. $POTATO is a token launched on Pons; the vault buys and burns it and, where the code says so, pays ETH to potato holders, all automatically. We make no statement about its value or its legal status anywhere. Only trust the token address on the docs page and on our X account. Your taxes are your responsibility.

7Risks and rules

You can lose everything you put in. Smart contracts can have bugs; ours are reviewed and tested, not audited. The chain, RPC providers, wallets, IPFS gateways and marketplaces are run by others and can fail or change. Data on the site may be wrong. The law around tokens and NFTs is unsettled. People playing the game, including us, may hold potatoes or tokens and act in their own interest. You may not use the site to break the law, defraud or manipulate anyone, impersonate anyone, interfere with the site or the contracts, scrape or overload the site or its upload service, upload malicious files, launder money or evade sanctions.
